The CLDH (Centre Libanais des Droits Humains) is the official Lebanese structure taking over the local activities of the French-Lebanese SOLIDA (Soutien aux Libanais Détenus Arbitrairement) movement based in France. SOLIDA is a human rights organization and member of the Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Network (EMHRN), which since 1996 has been active in the fight against arbitrary detention, enforced disappearances and impunity for perpetrators of serious human rights violations.
CLDH was created in Beirut in October 2006 by the SOLIDA team, assisted by local human rights defenders, and pursues the following objectives:
- combat the enforced disappearance of Lebanese citizens (and persons habitually resident in Lebanon);
- combat arbitrary detention ;
- combat impunity for serious human rights violations.
