Conferences

FEMED conferences are key events in the fight against enforced disappearances

They bring together experts, human rights defenders, victims and members of civil society to discuss current issues and challenges. These events are platforms for exchange and reflection, where everyone can share their experience, expertise and vision to strengthen prevention, research, prosecution and reparation for enforced disappearances.

By organizing conferences, FEMED pursues several objectives:

  • Raise public awareness of enforced disappearances and their impact on individuals and communities.
  • Strengthen cooperation between the various actors involved in the fight against enforced disappearances, including governments, civil society organizations, experts and victims.
  • Promote best practices in the prevention, investigation, prosecution and redress of enforced disappearances.
  • Encourage States to ratify and implement relevant international instruments, such as the International Convention for the Protection of All Persons from Enforced Disappearance.
  • Pressure states to respect their international human rights obligations and take concrete measures to prevent and punish enforced disappearances.

FEMED conferences are open to all those involved in the fight against enforced disappearances, whether victims, human rights defenders, researchers, lawyers, government officials or representatives of civil society. They offer a unique opportunity to connect with others and share experiences and knowledge.
